6:00-7:00pm - Body Movement and Perfecting Your Basic
Kick off the evening by warming up the body and tuning into your movement with a focused session designed to build control, precision, and full-body awareness. Through a series of isolation drills targeting the head, shoulders, ribcage, hips, knees, and feet, you'll learn to move with clarity and intention. Starting with slow, controlled exercises and progressing to body movement drills, this segment introduces essential salsa body movement fundamentals with an emphasis on rooted, grounded footwork. You'll explore weight transfer, torso articulation, and directional changes—laying the foundation for dynamic, expressive dancing that feels as good as it looks.
7:00-8:00pm - Musicality & Flow
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to connect body movement to the music in a way that feels both natural and intentional. Building on your isolation technique, we’ll explore how to apply those movements to short salsa combinations, focusing on flow, control, and expression. You'll dive into the layers of salsa music—clave, conga, melody—and practice moving different parts of your body in response to each rhythm, such as isolating the hips to one layer while the shoulders or feet respond to another. Through musical interpretation exercises, you'll learn to recognize the structure of a salsa song and explore how to embody each section with purpose and style. This session is all about transforming technique into expressive, musically-driven dance.
8:00-9:00pm - Shines & Style
In the final workshop, you’ll bring everything together in a dynamic shines sequence danced on1, designed to integrate the body movement, musicality, and technique developed in the previous sessions. This choreography emphasizes clarity, rhythm, and personal expression, allowing you to apply isolations, weight transfers, and styling in a cohesive way. You will build confidence, precision, and presence on the dance floor.
